Florida Home Buying Checklist 1. Obtain a copy of your current credit report . Check the report for errors and have them corrected. 2. Determine how much home you can afford by using your income and credit worthiness. Use our mortgage calculator for help. 3. Shop around for a good lender or use one of our recommended lenders. 4. Go to your lender and ask to be prequalified for your specified loan amount. 5. Select a qualified Realtor in the city where you wish to purchase property. 6. Choose a property for purchase and have your Realtor do a comparative market analysis on it. This will give you an idea of the true value of the home and gives you a stronger negotiating stance. 7. Ask that the seller provide a homeowners warranty, make sure this is in the offer contract. 8. Discuss any contingencies that need to be present in the offer before it is made. 9. Prepare for the offer / counter offer dance…this is the fun part. 10. Make sure you ask for termite, roof and home inspections if deemed necessary. |
